Robin,According to Virginia's Birdlife the birds have 8-10 day old chicks, May1 - July 6, but you would probably have to get a copy of the Breeding Bird Atlas for Virginia to get more detailed information.

RAS had a phone call from someone who said they have not been mowing their pasture in order to protect the nesting area of Eastern Meadowlarks. She wants to know when will the birds be finished nesting so they can mow their pasture. The Stokes Guide to Bird Behavior seems to indicate that breeding can continue until the middle of August. Does anyone have any better information on this?Robin You are subscribed to VA-Richmond-General.
