Saw a large mixed flock of Turkey and Black Vultures over Dominion VA Power's Chesterfield Power Station yesterday afternoon and counted at least 120 Black Vultures in the mix.

Had a well needed mid-afternoon paddle at Dutch Gap yesterday. Large numbers of Double-crested Cormorants stacked up in the trees along side Great Blue Herons in their rookery. Some mating shenanigans and nest enhancements going on. Watched a Black Vulture ripping flesh from a citation size fish on the shoreline. One lone Laughing Gull flew over with a flock of Ring-bills. Osprey seemed to be everywhere and one lone Immature Bald Eagle kept watch over it all perched in solitude in a Sycamore. A rattling Kingfisher darted along the shore. Saw a very interesting site as a Canada "Gosprey" has taken over a very tall Osprey nest platform and appears to be nesting there with the mate swimming below. A low quality photo of the goose attached-the light was fading, tide rising and winds whipping and photographer trying not to capsize......

Signs of spring everywhere,
