Avian Admirers. According to the publication "Discover Our Wild Side" put out by Va. dept. of game and fisheries Vawter Street Park sounds like a site worth exploring. There is an upland trail where 7 species of woodpeckers have been sighted.
Go south on US#1/Brook Rd. past Lakeside Ave. Continue for 2.0 miles to Laburnum Ave. Turn left onto SR #197/ Laburnum Ave. Travel 2.2 miles, and turn left onto Vawter Ave. Go 0.7 miles to the entrance to the park on the right.
