Yes, this spread to goldfinches in the 1990s - I did some reading on this last year when I had a sick (house) finch at my feeder. Treating the birds is controversial but possible. Here are some links to information on this disease: On the incidence of the disease: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/eid/vol3no1/fischer2.htm General summary info: http://www.ohiodnr.com/wildlife/Resources/wbirds/conjqa.htm Kathy Kreutzer Chesterfield, VA -----Original Message----- From: va-richmond-general-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:va-richmond-general-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Robin Ruth Sent: Wednesday, March 08, 2006 1:48 AM To: va-richmond-general@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [va-richmond-general] Conjunctivitis in Goldfinches Someone called the RAS phone # wondering if there's anything that can be done about conjunctivitis in goldfinches. She's wondering if they "picked one up" could it be treated. She says she's losing goldfinches to this. Does anyone know anything about this disease in goldfinches? I knew there was a problem with other finches but didn't realize it was affecting goldfinches. Robin Ruth You are subscribed to VA-Richmond-General.
