[va-richmond-general] Cackling Goose?

Hello Bird Experts,
I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a Cackling Goose in the Central
Virginia area? I went birding today at Moorefield Park and amongst a group
of 63 mallards I saw what appears to have been a single Cackling Goose. At
first glance from afar I thought it was a Canada, but when I was able to
eventually get up close (within 10 meters or so) and compare body size with
the Mallards, I noticed that it was really, really small for a Canada,
especially in the neck. Anyhow, in the back of my mind I remembered seeing
the Cackling Goose in my field guide, but I know they're mainly out west.
Any thoughts?
