Even with rain it was another great day on the Eastern Shore. Saw people I haven't seen for awhile and put more names and faces together at the CVWO meeting (Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory). Great group of hard-working people. The reports from the Songbird, Raptor and Butterfly Teams were very informative and the student grant recipient from William and Mary gave a very nice report on her ongoing work with bluebirds. There are financial objectives still to be met for ongoing research if you have charitable giving to do before the end of your tax year. If you cannot locate their mailing address on the web I will be happy to help you out if you email me directly. Before the meeting I caught up with Allen Larner while he scouted for an upcoming field trip. The most noteworthy bird was a female yellow-headed blackbird found by Allen on the entrance road at Kiptopeke SP in a flock of brown-headed cowbirds, red-winged blackbirds, and starlings-relocated later by Paul Nasca. I probably should have looked a little bit longer at them than I did on the way in!
