I was at Byrd Park Tuesday and along with the usual suspects, Ruddies,
Ring-necked, Gadwall, and Mallards, I found a strange little motley crew
that I can't ID. Please see the attached pics.
There were at least 50, maybe more, Black and Turkey Vultures by Shields
Lake. Is that normal? This was the first time I birded in the morning,
around 9, so maybe I just don't see them when I arrive closer to noon?
They were remarkably tame, too. With patience, I was able to get about 2'
from them which made for amazing photos (if I do say so myself ;D).
I noticed an alarming number of domestic goose x CANGs, definitely many
more than last year. Any thoughts on if/how the Border Collie relocation
program will affect the hybrids?
