My kitchen fluorescent light would not work this morning, so I went to Home Depot to get new bulbs. When I entered, I heard a flwuuush! and then I saw a black bird inside the depot fly at and hit the window to the outside. It fell behind a large box, so I went outside to look at it. It was still flying around, and then I went inside again and did not hear any more from it. It looked like a juvenile starling. When I got home, I saw hundreds of birds in my yard and the neighbor's yard. My arriving caused them all to fly to a neighbor's house. These were black birds with iridescence, and I felt that they were starlings, but they could be grackles, too. I think they had the light-colored beaks of a starling. I chased them off and they flew into someone's back yard. I turned around and saw a pileated woodpecker pecking at the neighbor's tree. Its pointed head was going way back and forth hammering away at the tree - I wonder if it gets a headache. After pecking away at the tree, it flew off to high on a tree across the street. Don't have to go anywhere to see all kinds of birds. Jim Blowers
