Went on a solo shot to Point of Rocks park this morning around 8:30am.........The field on the way in was peppered with large flocks of European Starlings. Through the woods on the way to the first(and highest) marsh overlook...juv. American Robin, Northern Cardinal, Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Wren(myriad), and Hermit Thrush...from the first marsh overlook...Common Yellowthroat(female), Prothonotary Warbler, Red Winged Blackie(female)...through the forest again headed to the second (lower, closer to the river)marsh overlook platform...White-Eyed Vireo, Blue Jay, Gray Catbird(wonderful how you can draw this baby out by mewing, he was being worried by a pair of Carolina Wrens..and was puffing and breathing his Whoof! call), Red Bellied and Hairy Woodpeckers, Brown Thrasher, Carolina Chickadee, American Goldfinch...on the river I saw absolutely NO waders at all(is this common this time of year?)but did see(and, of course heard)a Red-Shouldered Hawk circling high above the current...last, but most certainly not least, at the edge of the wide field, parking lot side, I spotted an Eastern Phoebe in the under-canopy being silent and elusive....GOTCHA! --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
