VA-birders.... Our deepest gratitude to the Ann Brooks, Caroline Coe, and all of the field trip leaders for the outings held at the VSO Annual Meeting this weekend. I do not have the field trip lists, however I do want to mention some of the highlight bird species. A more complete list may be sent later.... Highlights: ANHINGA circling overhead at Curles Neck Farm. (Spotted by Joanna Taylor and seen by about 20) Marsh Wren -- Dogham Plantation (Spotted by Greg Moser) (3) Common Loons -- flyover at Dogham Plantation (Spotted by Allen Schreck) Excellent list of warblers, including Canada, Kentucky, N. Parula, Blue-winged, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, Yellow-throated, Prairie, Pine, Yellow, Hooded, Ovenbird, L. Waterthrush, N. Waterthrush, Common Yellowthroat, Chat, Redstart.... and wonderful closeup looks at numerous Prothonotary Warblers at Henricus Park and other locations. Yellow-throated, Red-eyed, White-eyed, and Blue-headed Vireos Summer and Scarlet Tanagers Bobolinks (Found by Fenton Day) Orchard and Baltimore Orioles All of the eastern swallows, including Cliff. E. Wood-pewee Barn Owl ( Bob Coles had a close encounter of the white kind) There are many other highlights that other participants can fill in. The complete list is well over 140 species.
