Cowbird.. is my best guess also. The jumbled pattern of molting certainly
screams Brown-headed Cowbird.  I have been thinking about this bird and
wondering if it could be another species of cowbird. Shiny and Bronzed can
both have some blue tones in males (eye is so dark that it alone may rule
out Bronzed, even an immature male I think).  But I'm not sure if
Brown-headed could show that much true blue? It could be an illusion of the
photo that is creating that really blue look.  Don't have great field
guides to review at moment but will do a little more digging.

I'm with Lewis on cowbird. If you do a search on Google Images for
juvenile male Brown-headed Cowbird, it looks like the glossy black
plumage, which appears bluish in the photos, comes in right over the
gray-brown, which is still seen in the photos on the head and edges to
the wing feathers. It's the right size and shape, too.

Weird. It looks bigger than the House Finches in the picture, so the
first place my mind went was Starling. Definitely missing all the head
feathers, whatever it is. I also wonder if it might be a Cowbird, but
the white edges on the primary and secondary wing feathers are
throwing me off, as is the suggestion of blue on the bird.

maybe molting bluejay, prob not.

this is?
