I photographed a pair of adult bald eagles performing courtship aerobatics over the James River this afternoon. They were first seen at Reedy Creek and then later when they perched together on a tree located on an island near Hollywood Cemetery. They left the tree headed in the direction of the downtown GBH rookery and started to soar. The courtship flight routines were performed several times with downtown buildings in the background. Three photos showing one eagle flying upside down below the other, both with outstretched talons can be viewed at the following link: http://birdsinphotos.com/recent_images_2011/index.html Once the webpage is opened, click on the top left image. The eagles were photographed from a ninth story balcony. Steve Baranoff baranoff@xxxxxxxxxxxxx www.birdsinphotos.com (804) 308-0016
