It appears now that I have both an adult Coopie and a juvenile Sharpie who frequent the neighbhood to "bush hunt." This morning at around 10AM, the Sharpie came 'round lurking. As you might know, I'm in a townhouse community, so the "bush hunting" entails stalking about the large shrubs in front of the units. Once the lurker has spied hidden birds in the shrubs (usually sparrows), diving and grabbing happens. I saw that this morning, and what appeared to be a European House Sparrow was the grabee. The hawk then flew up onto a limb of a large oak in front of the units, and proceeded to pluck the victim. Interestingly, the hawk seemed fairly unconcerned over cars parking and departing, and humans walking around past the base of the tree. It ate its meal and merely watched the goings on down below. I went to get the camera, only to discover that I was out of film AND my camera battery is almost dead. I'm having great fortune and luck getting to see hawks, but when it comes to getting a photo, I think I'm just going to have to give up on that idea!
