Inspired by the fortitude of the atheletes in the Banff Mountain Film Festival last night, we decided to open our owl nets in hopes of breaking our late season record of March 8. Our first net run was at 1230 and we had one owl,  an unbanded, well nourished female. On run number two we again had another, unbanded, healthy > 100 gram female. We had a great outing listening to the sounds of the night and we were thrilled to have captured these 2 beautiful birds so late in the season. As we furled the nets at 0630, American Woodcocks were "peenting" and displaying near the nets. Great Blue Herons, Northern Cardinals and Robins were also observed. A Barred Owl gave us a parting..."who cooks for you..."?

Very exciting night-MG was greeting us when we pulled into my yard,
