All,
Fenton Day and I found an immature yellow-headed blackbird in a flock of
cowbirds and starlings near Richmond around 3:30 this afternoon. The flock was
in a cow pasture on the east side of Turkey Island Road just south of Rt. 5.
This location is east of Richmond near Curles Neck Farm. There were about 500
birds in the flock and were quite near the road. The birds were feeding around
the cows making observation a challenge and we had to watch them for about 30
minutes before we both got good enough looks at the bird to determine that's
what it was. Seems reproducible if the flock is still around but it will take
patience.
