All,
I took a crespuscular drive along Bull Run Post Office Road this evening
in search of night critters. The frogs are deafening out there! At
the Field of Dreams site I heard on peenting woodcock and sputtering
Grasshopper Sparrow (8:15p). At the end of Sudley Road in the Fairfax
National Estates where it makes a 90 degree left turn into the golf
course, there was a single singing Whip-poor-will at 8:20p. There was a
very annoying barking dog there so I didn't get out of the car and
listen to see if there were more. Didn't find anything else in Fairfax
County so I headed west on Braddock Road. Just past Ticonderoga Farms,
I heard another peenting woodcock (8:43p) and then another
Whip-poor-will at the intersection of Donerails Chase (8:46p). At this
point it was time to go pick up my daughter so I had to quit. Three
more months til she has her driver's license. Yeehaw, as they say in TX.
