Hello Virgina Birders
Flint Hill School's ecological study trip this
summer is to Tanzania. Unfortunately, not many
people have signed up (possibly due to combo of
9/11 and cost)so I am on the verge of cancelling
it. Before I do such a sad thing though, I
thought I'd make one announcement to you all to
see if you knew any high school kids who might be
able to go. The trip is also open to adults or to
younger students accompanied by adults. Though it
is primarily a photographic and ecological study
trip we will also do a lot of birding and should
see such neat birds as bee-eaters, lilac-breasted
rollers, bustards, secretary-birds, and hornbills
among the elephants, giraffes, rhinos, lions, and
wildbeests.
The dates are tentatively Aug 5-19. The cost is
between $5550 and $5950 (including airfare,
lodging, food, guides)depending on number of
participants. We have no more than 3 participants
per vehicle to allow for more room for
photography and more freedom in what each vehicle
does. We stay in superb locations in (or adjacent
to) the national parks, including a luxury tented
camp in Tarangire.
