on an ansolutely beautiful day, of note were:
1. A group of 7 Black Scoters on Island #1 by the fishing pier
2. Ramp Rd. Pond very, very high, and not a bird on it
3. No E-C Doves at the usual spot by 645 & 600
4. 3-4 Palm Warblers on the lawn and bushes of a house on 600
5. An immature White-crowned Sparrow at the feeders at Kiptopeke
6. A great Sharpie day - well over 100 when I left at 2:30, and more coming.
7. 2 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers ( males) - one in the W-C Dove tree at 645 &
600, the other in a tree right by the Kiptopeke feeders
8. The Bird of the Day: at about 2:15 at the Hawk Watch, a dark-phase
Rough-Legged Hawk which came roaring right over, and low, the platform,
affording
great lucks to the few stunned hawkers who were there at the moment. I believe
this is the first of the year for Kiptopeke.
