Wendy Ealding and I visited the following places;
1.Ridgway Park in Hampton, off of Rt.258 - Eurasian Wigeon ( male ) for at
least the 5th or 6th year. Easily seen. Also, 3 black-crowned Nt. Herons, 1
adult, 1 immature, 1 moving into adult plumage.
2.Belmont at York Garden Apt. Complex off of Rt.134 - 9 Redheads
3.victory blvd. approaching I-64: at least 10 Great Egrets
4.Newport News City Park: as previously reported, 3 Redheads next to the
bridge over the lake across from the Discovery Center. To our surprise, nary a
Red-headed Woodpecker. Two Mute Swans flying freely.
5.Colonial Pkwy from Yorktown Victory Center to Cheatem Annex: rafts of
predominantly Ruddies, and not much else. We were there at noon, and birds may
have
dispersed by then. Did see 2 Tundra Swans, 2 Forsters Terns, and a Horned
Grebe.
