Fourteen people showed up for the Dyke Marsh walk this morning (11/23). =
Despite early fog we had some good birds, the best being an orange crowned =
warbler and baltimore oriole. The warbler was about 2/3 down the trail =
before the turn. It was associating with chickadees and kinglets. The =
oriole (male) was past the orange fencing, feeding on berries. Other =
birds included 8 hooded mergansers off the picnic area, and a tree sparrow =
near the oriole spot. Fifty species were tallied in all. Other sightings =
of interest were a beaver swimming in the marsh, and a northern water =
snake in a bush, very lethargic, waiting for the sun.
