A small flock of 8 Bobolinks flew N over Flint
Hill School (Oakton, Fairfax Co) at about 7:30
this morning on our weekly before-school
birdwalk.
Also present was a female ruddy duck in the
drainage pond. Combining migrants seen at both of
our campuses (3/4 mile apart) we had 40
yellow-rumpeds, 1 cape may, 1 yellow, 1 western
palm, and 1 white-eyed vireo. The 2 solitary
sandpipers and 2 spotted sandpipers that were on
the muddy shores of the drainage pond on Friday
were gone today; (the pond was very full).
