The Northern Virginia Teen Bird Club, sponsored
by the Audubon Society of Northern Virginia and
Flint Hill School, will have its first field trip
of the school year this coming Saturday. We will
meet at 7 AM at Flint Hill School west campus at
3320 Jermantown Road in Oakton (Fairfax Co) and
will return to Flint Hill at noon. Destination
is unknown, possibly to look for the loggerhead
shrike and red-headed woodpeckers at Sky Meadows
or for warblers at Manassas Battlefield or
Riverbend. Or we may set up some mist nets at
Difficult Run in Oakton, which was full of
warblers on Monday, to do some banding.
If interested, let Mr. Atwood know (see e-mail
and phone number below) along with your vote of
what you would like to do. This is open to all
teens, beginners or experts, in grades 8 through
12. Request directions if you need them.
