It was a sparrow-filled morning at Huntley Meadows Park today. Species seen
included song, swamp, white-throated, field, savannah and a Nelson's
sharp-tailed sparrow. The sharp-tailed sparrow was seen for a good five
minutes, perched in a low red maple sapling only 3 feet from the boardwalk. The
striking ochre colored face and paler breast with fine-streaking were clearly
seen along with the white stripes on the back when the sparrow turned. The
sparrow was also seen by park staff Sunday morning.
