This morning, I had a good collection of birds at the feeder and during about
an hour's walk. First of the season included 2 black-throated greens and a
blue-headed vireo. Also saw and heard both sexes of Purple Finch, Ruffed
grouse, turkey sign, Red-tailed hawk, Yellow-bellied sapsucker, Downy,
Pileated, bluebirds, raven, Black-capped chickadees, Robins, Juncos, Tree
swallows,White-throated sparrow, Chipping sparrow,Towhees and Thrasher.
Everything but the goldfinches seem to be pairing up. Goldfinches are very
plentiful this year and seem brighter yellow earlier than usual. Due to recent
cold temps and snow, trees are not leafing out, providing better visibility.
