I don't think I've ever seen an October day with so few birds
moving...anywhere. whew. It feels like the birds are avoiding us this season.
I hesitate to make any predictions about upcoming flights, since this week
looked like at least one good push should have occurred when none materialized.
I tell ya' we're due for some good stuff.

Deniz was impressive in pulling down half of the birds that came anywhere near
her station. Unfortunately, that totalled one juvenile Sharp-shinned hawk. But
on the 17th, she nabbed 12, a Merlin and 11 sharpies and on the 15th, 21,
comprised of 10 Coops, 10 Sharpies and a juv female N. harrier.
