Folks,
I have a friend who lives on the 3rd floor of a condo in Northern
Virginia. Their entrance is on outside porch area. It is here where they
have a problem: A persistent house sparrow has decided to, every day,
build her nest on the fire sprinkler. (The sprinkler head is like the ones
in office buildings on the ceiling, but this one is horizontal.) Every
day, they take away the nesting material, but every day the sparrow is
back building again.
Since they can't cover up the sprinkler, I was wondering if there is
another solution for them besides simply removing the material every day
(something like moth balls, for instance).
If anyone has dealt with something like this, please email me offline.

p.s. On a happy (non-invasive) note, I was able to get great looks and
hear the singing of a male MOURNING WARBLER this morning at Monticello
Park (Alexandria, VA).
