I observed a dead accipiter along Massaponax Creek behind the Southpointe
development in Fredericksburg yesterday. From its size believe it was a
Cooper's. The head and part of the breast had been eaten. It had been
stripped of
most of its breast and tail feathers which where laying around the carcass. It
was apparent that it had been fed on by an avian predator or scavenger. I was
wondering if the literature contains references to predation on accipiters by
other raptor species.
