AFter a late start this morning (Oct 10) I spent
some time at the ponds along route 3 in King
George in late morning, then looked for the lark
sparrow that was near Washington's Birthplace two
weeks ago (no luck today), then stopped at
Westmoreland State Park, and finished at two
private properties in Leedstown (Westmoreland
Co). The best bird of the day was a Connecticut
Warbler, a first for my property list, in
Leedstown. Quite a few sparrows have arrived,
there are a few more ducks, pied-billed grebes,
and geese, and a few warblers are still around.
Other highlights were a dunlin, a least
sandpiper, 4 snipe, a spotted sandpiper, and 2
pectoral sandpipers in King George and 3 pectoral
sandpipers in Leedstown.
