All,
Sunday morning, in the wind-sheltered northern edge of a farm field along
Rt. 606 (Shiloh School Road) in southern Northumberland County, a mixed
flock (field, song and swamp sparrows, juncos) contained a single
clay-colored sparrow. Thirty-some killdeer along with a single lesser
yellowlegs and a Wilsons snipe were in a wet pocket of the same field. The
first local tree swallows and Forsters terns of the year were just down the
road a half-mile. The bald eagle nest near the head of Cloverdale Creek
seems to be well tended.
