I visited Occoquant NWR for a late morning walk with my wife and son,
and was greeted by a field full of boblinks as I exited my car. Their
"plinks" filled the air, and soon a flock of between 75 and 100 lifted
off, circled, and came back down. After they landed, silence. You
would never know they were out there. The grass is really lush, and
offers great cover to grass loving birds. Other birds of note were
Cooper's hawk, bobwhite, black and white warbler, redstart, and
white-eyed vireo. There were also tons of butterflies.
