Birders,
Yippee...the cool air and rain brought 5 new birds into our yard this
morning.
We had 2 male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, a male and female Blue Grosbeak, a
singing Prairie Warbler, a bug-eating Red-eyed Vireo and finally (even though
not
that un-common it was new for our yard) a House Wren busy peeking into the
nestbox that the Chickadee babies were in. So far in the yard we have had 22
species and the day is not over. We made a quick trip out to Stumpy Lake and
saw
the Red-tailed Hawk (not on the nest but VERY busy in the area) also checked
on the BH Nuthatches to see if they could be seen in the tree cavity where we
saw them earlier in the week...nope....BUT...also VERY BUSY in the area. I was
able to pish 3 Prothonotaries down close to me at the entrance of Stumpy Lake
and I am still searching through all the pictures of LEAVES I took trying to
find them. Sneaky little devils!
