9am - here I am rushing to get out of the house to start my weekend trip up to
the Hudson Valley - the rain is making the thought of driving daunting, I'm not
even packed yet, and the hummingbird feeder has to be changed before I leave!
Just as I'm ready to walk outside to re-fill the feeder, my boyfriend returns
from the metro - not only is traffic at a virtual standstill, there was no
parking at the metro. (Great, I can't wait to drive up 95!)
He follows me out while I go to the feeder. I take it down, start unscrewing
the lid when he exclaims (and wide-eyed I might add) - "DID YOU SEE THAT!?" Of
course, I didn't - I had my head burried at the feeder on the table!
He claims that, in fact, a bright green hummingbird flew RIGHT to where the
feeder had been, took one look at us, an one look at the empty hook and flew
away again!
So, that's my first "sighting" of a hummingbird here in Alexandria!
