A recent post mentioned Carolina Wrens nesting in "wreaths, grilles, boats,
flower pots or anything else a human may have outside in the yard."
These birds would not have to do this if folks would put out a nesting shelf
in a protected location, such as near the ceiling of a carport or porch.
Contrary to popular "wisdom", Carolina Wrens prefer a sheltered open area to a
bird box. The shelf only needs to be about 6 inches by 6 inches.
I hope this will encourage some of you to put up shelves for your Carolina
Wrens! Please e-mail me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Marlene
