Do to circumstances that are beyond our control, the VA DCNR/Virginia
Eastern Shorekeeper/CVWO Free Trip to Wreck Island has been rescheduled for
Sept 17 (Sunday). This is a great opportunity to see the jewel of
Virginia's barrier island lead by the key individual who manages the island
- Dot Field. The trip will leave from Oyster, VA in the morning. Big
waders (Whimbrel), small peeps (Western Sandpipers), terns (Sandwich,
Gull-billed) are all very much possible. The thing to do is to CALL DOT
FIELD to get all the details - her office number is 757 787 5576. Dot did
mention that if there is overwhelming demand to do the trip on Saturday, she
would consider it although she did point out that the participants in the
Kiptopeke Challenge (Sept 16) would be able to join her the next day (an
admittedly attractive feature!). Call Dot soon and discuss the plans and
reserve your seat as there is limited space.
