Shortly after 9:30 this morning I surprised a small flock of maybe a dozen
adult and juvenile White Ibises that were settled in a grubbed out area off the
Barbour Hill Trail, a couple of hundred feet east of the visitors center. An
hour and a half later, while I was standing on the False Cape Landing boat
docks watching a River Otter scamper across the ice, a flock of ten White
Ibises passed overhead.
A park ranger told me that White Ibises are being seen regularly at the Park
this month.
