Hello all,
I don't know if this is unusual enough to mention, but there has been a
small group of what I believe are Whistling Swans on the Potomac River.
I have seen them daily since Saturday 1/23 (when I originally thought
they were snow-covered ducks) on the George Washington Parkway and
Vernon View Drive (about a mile north of Mount Vernon) in the Alexandria
part of Fairfax County. They are probably quite common in the winter,
but I don't ever recall seeing them at this location in the 5 years I've
lived here.
