We have some open water on our subdivision lake and have noticed that in the
case of both Buffleheads and Ringnecks that there is a vast preponderance of
males. In the case of the Hooded Mergansers, the ratio is rather more equal
but still some males in excess.
Is anybody else observing this? Any explanation?
