I went to Mason District Park in Annandale on Columbia Pike this afternoon.
There was quite a bit of activity in the overgrown field, especially for so
late in the day. I observed six species of warblers: Magnolia, American
Redstart, Nashville, Canada, Yellow and Common Yellowthroat. There was also a
White-eyed Vireo in the same area. I hope that this meadow remains unmowed
and
remains a great habitat for birds. I am especially concerned because a large
swath was recently mowed right through the middle of it.
