I orginally when out to check on a chickadee nest box but ended up birding for
over two hour in the light to medium drizzle. I saw a flock of 12 RUSTY
BLACKBIRS. FOS for me PLAM and BLACK AND WHITE WARBLES, hermit thrush, and
CASPIAN TERNS. Most noteable was a GADWALL/WIGEON HYBRID among the Gadwall in
the beaver pond to the left before the offical park enterance. It had a short
blue and black tipped bill and a rounder head with a more upright profile; a
small white patch on the forhead and a dark grayish patch where the green patch
would be on a m wigeon. The body was brownish gray. There was a white hip
patch.
I also when to a river lookout in the custon kastles development north of
Featherstone NWR. There where lots of swallows flying low to the water near
and way out on the river. I'd say one or two hunderd total at least They were
