That is the first I heard about one in Portsmouth! Is it accessible? We live in
Hampton

I ventured out this weekend in all this nasty weather and ended up with some
nice finds for the area. I went to the southern part of Virgina beach looking
for Snowy owls, I mainly drove and birded from the car due to the rain . I
did not have any luck with Snowy owls down this way , but I did find a
Western Kingbird on Munden Road. When turning onto Munden road there is a
parking area on the left , across the road was a dead tree the flycatcher
favored . Also of note along the road was Orange Crowned Warbler and
American Bittern.
Heading north I ran into David Hughes and Bruce Richardson at Rudee Inlet
where they were looking at an Imm. male King Eider , thanks for the great
showing .
Later in the Portsmouth I viewed a lovely Snowy Owl , on private property. I
must say seeing a Snowy Owl this far south I was thrilled .
Other bird highlights included : White Ibis southern Virginia beach ,Tundra
Swan , Red Shouldered Hawk, American Oystercatcher , Laughing Gull and Bald
Eagle
In all I saw 82 species for the weekend , which I thought was great for the
weather we had .
Cheers
Andrew
