VA-birders....

For anyone heading over to Chincoteague this week, you might  want to
look for Buff-breasted Sandpipers from the wooden platform "overlook" on
the back side of the wildlife drive.  I just heard that 11 were found
there this past Sunday afternoon.

Many thanks go to Jerry Via, Bill Akers, Peggy Spiegel, and Fenton Day
for setting up and/or leading field trips during our VSO weekend at
Chincoteague.  Everything was well-organized and everyone had a great
time!  The birds were rather good too:  White-winged Tern, Olive-sided
Flycatcher, Buff-breasted Sandpipers, Piping Plover, and a good variety
of warblers, waders, and other shorebirds.

Our thanks also go to Ned Brinkley and the other birders who gave us the
excellent updates on what was being seen on the Eastern Shore. It is
rather convenient that we are able to use the internet, cellular phones,
and FRS radios to spread the word about special birds that continue to
show up.

We also look forward to seeing everyone on the VSO's Virginia Beach /
Back Bay weekend:  Dec. 6th - 8th, 2002.  Put it on your calender now.
Details will be in the next VSO newsletter. In conjunction with the VSO
weekend, a pelagic trip has been scheduled by Brian Patteson, Inc. for
Saturday, Dec. 7th (8th).   See the details at Brian's website:
