Ben & VSO Birders,
I made my room reservation at the Holiday Inn in Charlottesville today.
The problem is that the 800 number listed in the VSO Newsletter is a central
reservations number, and it does not have the information on the VSO block of
rooms; all it has, apparently, is that the rooms are not available. I have
encountered this problem before, and the simple solution is to call the hotel
number (in this case the 434 Area Code number) and make your reservation with
the hotel directly. Do be sure to say that you want a room in the VSO block,
and you shouldn't have any trouble, as long as you reserve by April 10.
Also, if you are going to the annual meeting, I would encourage you to
stay at the meeting hotel, because the VSO has been given a special rate with
the idea that the convention will fill a lot of rooms. I think it is
important that the VSO gets a good reputation around the state for filling
hotel rooms, so that hotels will continue go give us a good rate to get us to
stay in their lodgings.
