i am a wild bird rehabilitator and long time member of the Wildlife Rescue
League here in northern virginia - got started in this as a result of being a
long time birdwatcher - we run a hotline for wildlife questions and to get
orphaned and injured wildlife to licensed rehabbers in the area (tel
703-440-0800)-
you would not beleive the birds and animals that we have gotten calls on in
the tysons area - because these birds and animals have had their habitat
displaced by buildings, they have adapted to living under these conditions -
there
is a lot of water around there and lots of food provided in the plantings
around these buildings - i have had whole flocks of waxwings hit a glass
window
when disturbed while feeding on the berry bearing shrubs at the base of a
building - one time there were about a half dozen stunned and several dead in
one
spot- anyway i am always happy to hear someone working around there has an
appreciation for the wildlife right at hand - i have recently joined this list
