Just like last year, we are being entertained each evening with the aerial
displays and exotic sounds of several American Woodcocks (aka
"Timberdoodles") right in our front or back yard. When our work schedule
allows, we get home by sundown, sit out on the front porch and watch them
display for about 20 minutes, at which time we really can't see them
anymore in the dying sunlight. Tonight my 3 year old daughter sat quietly
(a rare thing) on my lap on the front porch and enjoyed this with me.
Never too early to get them interested in our avian friends.
