Birders,
Jen Folts and I finally made it up to Linden. We decided we were about 1/2
hour late in the morning
(8:15) and probably a week late in the season. The leaves are coming out
big time, particularly
in the undergrowth, but also the higher veg. too. It ain't easy birding in
the green! Those little
devils can really hide!
We had ~15 CERULEANS, 8-10 HOODEDS, and only one KENTUCKY, but we got superb
looks at him. Lots
of WORM-EATERS also WOOD THRUSHES, SCARLET TANS, REDSTARTS(busy little
fellows), a
RE VIREOS and OVENBIRDS. We had a truly large surprise. Heard a peculiar
song (for the area)
and saw this little dude high up in a fairly naked tree. Took a while but
we finally figured he was an
ORCHARD ORIOLE!! He was certainly looking for a playmate - good luck!
