[va-bird] Tazewell County Bird Count - Red-headed Woodpeckers

Tazewell County Bird Count
June 3, 2006

The bird count areas were limited to up East River Mountain /Bluefield,Va.
north-side and down south side of mountain to Cove Creek, to part of Burkes
Garden and back to town of Tazewell.  Three members of the Bibbee Nature
Club (WV) counted from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

68 species were counted including the following14 warbler species;

(N. Parula, Yellow Warbler, Chestnut-sided, Black-thr. Blue, Black-thr.
Green,
Cerulean, Black & White, Amer. Redstart, Worm-eating, Ovenbird, Louisana
Waterthrush, Com. Yellow-throat, Hooded and Canada Warbler).

The high light of the count was finding 6 Red-headed Woodpeckers  in
birding only half of the Burkes Garden !
