Hello all,
After a delightful walk at Banshee Reeks with Jon Drummond, Joe Coleman, and
other members of the Northern Virginia Bird Club on Saturday, we visited
close-by Sunrise Valley park (in Reston) this morning.
The highlight of the visit was a RUSTY BLACKBIRD foraging on a piece of tree
trunk in the pond.
Other sightings included:
WHITE THROATED SPARROWS (at least 2--our first sighting of this species at the
park this fall)
DARK EYED JUNCOS (2--our first sighting of this species at the park this fall)
RUBY CROWNED KINGLETS
YELLOW RUMPED WARBLERS (a dozen or more)
COOPERS HAWK (flying over and being harassed by a Crow)
NORTHERN FLICKERS
and
three EASTERN PHOEBES
a lone RED WINGED BLACKBIRD
As others have noted, it was a nice day to be out birding.
