I stopped by Sunrise Valley Park in Reston, VA this morning for a quick walk
before work. Small numbers of migrants were present, but some good finds.
Warblers included MAGNOLIA, YELLOW, WORM-EATING, and YELLOW-RUMPED. Other
notables included a lone FIELD SPARROW, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER and a pair of
LESSER YELLOWLEGS working the shallowest part of the pond.
The local Red-Shouldered Hawk put in an appearance and the resident Phoebes
were vocal. It was also good to note undeniable breeding evidence of a
KILLDEER pair - presumably the same pair that has been here in previous
years.
