Subject: [va-bird] Re: Sunday Hunting
VA-Birders,
Is everyone aware that HB 1639, if passed, would allow hunting on Sunday
only from noon to one-half hour after sunset? Not that I'm happy about
any hunting on Sunday, but at least it keeps the morning safe for
birders and other passive users of wildlife refuges and wildlife
management areas.
Here is the relevant section from the bill:
A. The following shall be unlawful:
1. To hunt or kill any wild bird or wild animal, including any
nuisance species, with a gun, firearm or other weapon before noon or
later than one-half hour after sunset on Sunday, which is hereby
declared a rest day for all species of wild bird and wild animal life,
except raccoons, which may be hunted until 2:00 a.m. on SundayPoor raccoons. Sounds like they don't have a lobby.
mornings.
