Greetings to all:

As the Virginia State Park's celebrated its 70th anniversary on June 15,
2006; it was announced that the state of Virginia has purchased a total of
1,007 acres of timber, open land, a 23-acre lake and a 2-acre pond to double
the size of Staunton River State Park.

The farm that joins the park was purchased from the Edmunds family, who also
gave some land to the county and town of South Boston to create Edmunds Park
in South Boston.

This addition to the State Park includes over 13 miles of roads, trails and
firebreaks.  This should make a great addition to the park and greatly
improve the birding there.

Great Birding Always
